Payroll Types

TimeIPS uses Payroll Types to group employees with the same payroll period. Payroll will be run once for each Type. Time Reports and Special Reports may be viewed by Type.

Using the left pane Main Menu, click on: Administration » Payroll » Payroll Types

To Add a Payroll Type:

  1. Click the + to the left of "Create New Type."
    NOTE: All employees entered in the initial TimeIPS Setup default to the Payroll Type of "Direct." If the majority of your employees should be in one type, you can leave the type as Direct or edit the name to a more descriptive label for your company.


To Edit a Payroll Type:

  1. Select the Payroll Type by clicking the + next to the name.

    • You can easily assign employees to a different Type by clicking on the Edit/View Users link.
      NOTE: Or, use Employee Administration section to edit individual employee's payroll types.
    • An Employee Payroll Type cannot be disabled (selecting No for "Allow Use") if it is assigned to any employee. You must assign the employee(s) to a different payroll type first.
    • Select the day and time each week that the weekly pay period either begins or ends. NOTE: Payroll periods are done in the timezone of the Company/Division as set in the System Administration -> Company/Divisions page.
    • Payroll Periods technically begin and end within the same second. Therefore, the start and end payroll period is the same. TimeIPS pays through the end of the second so the second is not duplicated in payrolls.

  2. Adjust the information as necessary.
  3. Click on the Save Row button to save the changes.

To Edit Schedule Day Defaults:

  1. Select the Schedule Day Defaults tab by clicking on it.

    • Schedule day defaults allow employees in the payroll type to share the same start time and day, as well as hours in the week.
    • Employees can have override settings configured in the employee administration area.
  2. Adjust the information as necessary.
  3. Click on the Save Row button to save the changes.
