Web Browser Compatibility

Mozilla Firefox 62+ or Google Chrome 68+ are the recommended web browsers for current versions of TimeIPS on all platforms. All functions in TimeIPS are designed and tested for optimal performance with Firefox and Chrome.

TimeIPS has selected Firefox and Chrome as the recommended browsers for the following reasons:

  • True cross-platform compatibility: Easy to install and use on Windows, Mac and Linux
  • Excellent track record for security and stability
  • Compliance with web standards
  • Solid Javascript performance

"Full Compatibility" indicates that all pages/functions work and everything appears as intended.
"Good Compatibility" indicates that almost everything generally works. However, some pages may not appear as intended and/or minor functions may not work.
"Not Compatible" indicates that some important pages or functions in TimeIPS will not function with the browser.
"Untested" indicates that the browser has not been extensively tested by TimeIPS for compatibility. On recent TimeIPS releases, very old browsers are not tested. On older TimeIPS releases, the browser may not have been available at the time the software was written. Untested browsers are likely to have compatibility issues.

Note 1: IE 8 Compatibility Mode

Internet Explorer Version 8 does not work correctly with many web applications. Fortunately, Internet Explorer 8 includes a compatibility mode which resolves some issues. To activate compatibility mode in Internet Explorer 8 do the following:
  • Right-click on the top of the page and select to display Menu.
  • On the Menu bar select Tools.
  • Select Compatibility View Settings.
  • The IP address of the clock should show under Add this website.
  • Click on Add.

Note 2: Mac OS 9

IE for Mac OS 9 has some compatibility problems including the inability to open calendar pop-ups.
  • Calendar icons do not open the pop up calendar when clicked on. (in Time Report, selecting birth date, etc.)
  • If using Internet Explorer for Mac OS 9 download an alternate browser (i.e.: Mozilla Firefox)
